Suspect in custody after stabbing in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Tuesday evening, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence involving a stabbing.

Authorities said the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Rocky Creek Road, where it was reported that a victim had been stabbed with a knife.


Deputies and Jackson County firefighters responded to the scene. When they arrived, they found severe lacerations to the victim's forearm as well as a significant amount of blood, according to a press release.

After the initial stages of the investigation, police said they determined Joseph McDowell was the suspect.

Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they made contact with McDowell at a local park, where he admitted to stabbing the victim after a brief verbal altercation.

McDowell was arrested and is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
