Suspect identified in series of stabbings in Massachusetts

Massachusetts prosecutors charged a 26-year-old man with attempted murder on Sunday for a series of stabbings that left at least two people injured at a rest stop the day before.

Authorities have charged Jared Ravizza in connection with two stabbings Saturday at a McDonald's in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and said he may also be the alleged assailant at a nearby movie theater who stabbed him earlier in the daytime.

He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Police say Ravizza stabbed a McDonald's employee through the drive-thru window as he sat in his car around 7 p.m. Saturday. He then entered the restaurant and stabbed a second employee before fleeing in his car.

The two victims, a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were transported to a nearby hospital with knife wounds.

Ravizza was arrested by police around 7:15 p.m.

The movie theater stabbing occurred about an hour earlier in nearby Braintree, Massachusetts. The attacker entered an AMC movie theater and stabbed four girls ages 9 to 17 before fleeing.

All four girls suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Boston hospitals for treatment, police said.

The vehicle used in the McDonald's stabbing matched the description of the vehicle owned by the suspect in the theater stabbing, police said. Ravizza has not been charged in connection with the stabbing at the theater, although authorities believe the incidents may be related.
