Suspect identified in fatal stabbing, shooting on I-5 in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Washington.Detectives have identified the suspect involved in Wednesday's fatal stabbing and shooting on I-5 in Federal Way.

Earlier this week, the Washington State Patrol responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in the northbound lanes of I-5 near South 375th Street. Witnesses called 911 to report a shooting and multiple people injured near a black BMW that was in a ditch.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man and woman outside the car with stab wounds, another man on the ground with gunshot wounds, and a driver who had been stabbed in the neck . The driver died on the spot.

Everyone involved in the incident was in the BMW, which was reported stolen, and no other cars were involved.

The two men and the woman were taken to the hospital and, at that time, there was no information on the suspect.

After investigating, detectives determined that one of the adults in the back seat of the car was the suspect who stabbed the driver and two passengers. He was shot several times, but it is unclear who shot him.

The Washington State Patrol said the suspect remains in the hospital and once medically cleared will be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder and two counts of charge of first degree assault.

The King County Medical Examiner identified the driver of the BMW as Ryan Lemay, a 19-year-old Patriot. Detectives have not released the names of other people involved.

Anyone with more information or dash cam video from Wednesday's incident is asked to email Detective Ford at [email protected].
