Suspect identified after Wisbech mayor targeted for 'racial violence' – Peterborough & Cambridgeshire News

Police have identified a man suspected of racially abusing Wisbech Mayor Cllr Sidney Imafidon. The incident happened on Friday in Norfolk Street, Wisbech, close to where Cllr Imafidon owns one of his pubs, the Five Bells.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said today: “We were contacted at around 2.30pm on Friday (28 June) with reports of a man being verbally abusive in Norfolk Street, Wisbech.

“The police went to the scene, the man was identified and an investigation into racist harassment is underway.”

Cllr Imafidon represents the Octavia ward on the town council and is also Fenland District Councilor for the Walsoken and Waterlees wards.

Cllr Imafidon is well known in the town for having renovated and now lives in the historic Ely House in Lynn Road, which has been abandoned for many years.
