Police arrested a suspect. A 26-year-old Woodstock resident was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a probation order, police said.

A day later, the same suspect was seen walking down Hunter Street with a hammer. Officers arrested the suspect behind the station, police said.

Police have not identified the school, but Woodstock Collegiate Institute is at the corner of Hunter and Riddell streets.

“Police worked closely with the local school and Thames Valley District School Board to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff,” police said.

“There is no evidence or reason for police to believe that the school is a target for this individual and that staff and students are safe.”
