Suspect arrested in fatal Lewisville shooting – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A Mesquite man accused of fatally shooting another man in Lewisville was arrested and given a $2 million bond Wednesday.

Aarion Morris, 39, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Jonathan Berto, 27, of Corinth, according to Lewisville police.

On Sunday, June 9, officers responded to the 1200 block of South IH-35E around 5 p.m. for a report of a deceased person along the northbound service road. When police arrived, they discovered Berto's body and learned that he had been fatally shot.

Morris was arrested without incident on Tuesday, June 11, in the 1800 block of Range Drive in Mesquite. He was booked into the Lewisville City Jail for his charges.

“I want to extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Berto's family and friends. This is a tragic event and their loss is something we feel here at the Lewisville Police Department,” said the Chief Brook Rollins.

“I would also like to pay tribute to our officers, detectives and support staff who have worked tirelessly since the beginning of this case to bring about his arrest.”
