Suspect Arrested in Deadly Mays Landing Stabbing

MAYS LANDING, NJ—A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at around 5:19 p.m., when the Hamilton Township Police Department was called to a stabbing at 789 Park Road. Upon arrival, officers found 49-year-old Solomon Lonner of Lakewood, NJ, suffering from multiple stab wounds inside his own residence.

Lonner, the homeowner, was urgently transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Michael Carney, 39, of Mays Landing, who also resided at the Park Road home as a tenant, was detained at the scene.

Carney has been charged with murder and related weapons offenses. The residence was shared by several individuals who rented from Lonner. The exact cause and manner of Lonner's death will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department are jointly investigating the case.

    The man is described as black, around 60 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighs about 130 pounds. He has brown eyes, salt and pepper hair, and a white beard. The case falls within the jurisdiction of the 79 Precinct.

  • NYPD Seeks Assistance to Identify Suspects in Central Park Robbery

    NEW YORK, NY—The New York City Police Department is requesting public help to identify several individuals linked to a recent robbery in Central Park. The incident took place near 62 West Drive within the Central Park Precinct.

    On Sunday at approximately 9:05 p.m., a group of unidentified suspects approached two young men, ages 20 and 21, and forcibly took their belongings, including a backpack, headphones, and a wallet. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the encounter.
