Suspect arrested after woman found dead in Woodlake home, police say

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — An investigation is underway after authorities said a woman was found dead in a Tulare County home.

Woodlake officers were called to a home on Oak Street, near Avenue 342, after 3 a.m. Thursday for a welfare check.

That's when they found the woman dead inside.

Authorities from the Woodlake, Exeter, Farmersville and Lindsay police departments were called to investigate.

They then arrested Anthony Flores, 24, and charged him with homicide.

Outside the apartment complex Friday morning, some neighbors were shaken by the news of a murder so close to home.

They asked Action News to protect their identities.

“This is the kind of thing that happens in big cities, not in your own backyard,” the neighbor explained.

The neighbor claims police knocked on his door around 6 a.m. Thursday.

“Then on the way out, I thought it was just two police officers asking questions. I came out here and the whole parking lot is filled with police cars, a crime scene unit truck, and another van was there,” the neighbor recalls.

The neighbor says when he saw many police officers at the scene, he knew the crime must be serious.

Affected departments include Woodlake, Exeter, Farmersville and Lindsay.

Although Flores was quickly arrested, the crime still makes neighbors reconsider the place they call home.

“It's shocking. It's just completely shocking. I want this to happen in my own complex. It makes me want to move.”

The case is still ongoing.
