Suspect arrested after vandalism spree in Long Beach that shattered several windows

LONG BEACH, Calif. (CNS) — Several Long Beach businesses were dealing with damage Friday from a vandal who smashed their windows in a rampage that also damaged some vehicles in the area.

A suspect was arrested during the vandalism spree, which began shortly before midnight Thursday in the East Village neighborhood.

“Early this morning, officers responded to several reports of vandalism involving broken windows of businesses and vehicles in the East Village area,” the Long Beach Police Department said Friday in a post on social networks. “Officers and detectives worked quickly to locate and identify the suspect. This afternoon, a possible suspect was located and is now in custody.”

No further information about the suspect was immediately available.

The operators of RightMealz, a health-conscious restaurant at 422 E. Fourth St., released information Friday about the damage.

“Running a business certainly has its challenges and unpredictability. Every day brings its own set of obstacles to overcome. It was a leap of faith to start this business, and today turned out to be one of those days difficult,” RightMealz posted on its Facebook page. “Waking up to find our business among the many vandalized in the downtown Long Beach arts district was nothing short of disheartening.”
