Sunbury woman accused of attempted stabbing with knife | Crime reports

Sunbury, Pa. — A Sunbury woman has been charged after allegedly getting into an altercation with three people and pulling out a knife.

Tiera Diane Jones, 36, was taken into custody after police responded to a fight at her home on May 18. Officer Trey Kurtz with the Sunbury Police Department said when police arrived, a victim was standing outside the home bleeding from the mouth. Another woman at the scene had a small cut on her abdomen, according to the affidavit.

When police entered the house, they encountered Jones who admitted she had been hostile. Kurtz interviewed the two women at the scene as well as a man at the scene who said Jones had been drinking at a local bar. Jones became hostile when she returned home and fought with another woman in the home, hitting her in the mouth, according to the affidavit.

Jones also got into a fight with another woman in the home, as she threatened her with a knife. The man of the house stepped between Jones and the other woman and was able to grab the knife and throw it in the kitchen sink. Jones continued to fight the other woman, grabbing her hair and punching her before the victim fled the house.

When police later questioned Jones, she admitted to getting into a fight earlier that night outside a bar. She called one of the female victims to come to the bar and when she did not arrive, Jones became angry and returned home to confront the victim. Jones told police the argument became physical and admitted she grabbed a knife, according to the affidavit.

Jones was charged with aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment through District Magistrate Rachel Wiest-Benner's office. Bail was set at $30,000. A preliminary hearing at Wiest-Benner's office is scheduled for June 4.
