Sulphur Springs police responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of Main Street Sunday night. Interviews with witnesses, the victim and the defendant led officers to determine that Robert Earl Ransom, 67, stabbed the victim in the back. Officers later learned that Ransom had cleaned the knife and hidden it in the residence so officers could not find it. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence to hinder the investigation. He is being held at the Hopkins County Jail.
