Tributes have been paid to a 'shining star' teenager who died in a crash involving a truck.

Georgia Scarff, 16, from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, died following a collision on the westbound carriageway of the A14.

The accident happened between junctions 44 and 43 at around 01:30 BST on April 15 and Georgia died at the scene.

Her family paid tribute to her and said she had a bright future ahead of her which would be “filled with remarkable achievements”.

“We were devastated by the loss of our beloved Georgia,” her family continued.

“Georgia was a star in every sense of the word, shining with the promise of a future filled with remarkable achievement and profound impact.

“She was a keen sports fan, excelling at hockey, tchoukball, fitness training and most recently rugby. She had won her bronze and silver prizes from the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards and was already well on her way to her gold medal.”

Legend, Georgia had to take her GCSE exams before moving on to her A-levels.

Georgia was due to take her GCSE exams this summer and was expected to achieve good results before continuing with her A-levels.

“Even though she downplayed her successes, we were extremely proud of all her accomplishments,” her family continued in their tribute.

“We know how much she will be missed by everyone who knew her as a friend, peer, teammate, teacher or coach and especially by her family.

“She was a shining star and we were lucky to have her for the short time we held her close, but we know she will always be with us in spirit.”

A formal inquest into Georgia's death is expected to take place at a later date.
