Stockton teen killed in crash on I-205 in Tracy

CHP said the teen was not wearing a seat belt and was speeding in traffic when he struck another vehicle.

TRACY, Calif. — A Stockton teenager died Wednesday after a crash on I-205 east of El Rancho Road in Tracy.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 6:30 p.m.

The CHP said witnesses told them two vehicles were speeding and weaving into traffic. The driver of one of the vehicles – an Acura – was changing lanes when he collided with a Toyota that was going the speed limit.

Under the impact, both vehicles left the road and rolled down the embankment. The driver of the Acura, a 17-year-old from Stockton, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. He suffered fatal injuries.

The other vehicle that was speeding with the Acura left the scene, but witnesses called and investigators located the driver and vehicle. They have not been identified but charges have been filed against them.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol contributed to this cause.

Anyone who saw the crash or witnessed the events leading up to it can call CHP Tracy at 209-319-4300.
