Steven Seagal plays Putin's spokesman as he receives special honor in Russia

Steven Seagal was happy to promote Vladimir Putin's agenda as he received an award from the Russian president on Thursday.

At a ceremony in the Kremlin in Moscow, the American action film actor was awarded the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation for his “great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation.”

In a video of Seagal accepting the award that circulated on X, formerly Twitter, the “Under Siege” star listed a series of inflammatory claims about Ukraine, where Russia has been trying to annex regions for years.

Reading a statement directly from his phone, the martial artist said that prior to Russia's incursion in early 2022, “Ukraine was known for human trafficking, organ trafficking, narcotics trafficking, child sex trafficking, biochemical warfare labs, fascism and Nazism.”

“And these are the things we have tried to do so that they become our brothers,” he continued. “These are all poisons that can affect the whole world and not just us.”

Claiming that international tensions could trigger a “Third World War” elsewhere in his speech, Seagal also denounced America and other Western nations for their support of Ukraine.

“This war we are currently embroiled in was started and funded by the West, and has drawn the entire world into a struggle between good and evil,” the actor said.

“All religions, all nations and all peoples should unite instead of being controlled and deceived by the monster of the fake press,” he continued.

Seagal has been on good terms with Putin for some time now.

In 2016, the actor was personally given a Russian passport by the president, a decision that resulted in him being banned from entering Ukraine for five years.

Two years later, he was appointed “special representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of Russian-American humanitarian relations.”

Showing his unwavering support for the Russian leader, Seagal attended Putin's inauguration ceremony for a fifth consecutive term earlier this month in Moscow.
