Statesville sisters arrested on drug charges

Sherry Kiser Jenkins, 61, of Loray Lane and Teresa Kiser Forrest, 62, of Pratt Lane, both of Statesville, were arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s officers on June 21 on drug charges. The suspects are sisters. Jenkins was charged with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin and one count each of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule V controlled substance. Forrest was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of a vehicle for drug use. Both suspects were charged with misdemeanor possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were arrested following a traffic stop on Woodbridge Road near the intersection of Loray Lane. According to a statement released by the sheriff's office, during the stop, Jenkins and Forrest showed signs of extreme nervousness and gave different stories.

K-9 Officer Levi was dispatched to the scene. The dog gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search revealed a quantity of oxycodone pills and Schedule IV controlled substances in a bag belonging to Jenkins, who was a passenger in the vehicle. When Forrest was asked if she had anything on her, she admitted she did and removed methamphetamine and Schedule IV controlled substances from her pocket.

Forrest and Jenkins were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Jenkins was given a $200,000 bond, while Forrest's bond was set at $10,000. They are both scheduled to appear in District Court on July 15.

Jenkins is currently on probation for driving while intoxicated. Forrest has a criminal history that includes multiple misdemeanor and felony drug charges.
