State troopers arrest former Georgetown County sheriff's investigator

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a former investigator with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office following an investigation requested by the sheriff.

Everest Henry Carrison II, 40, is charged with first-degree battery, according to SLED spokeswoman Renée Wunderlich.

An arrest warrant alleges that Carrison and the victim consumed alcoholic beverages in a hotel room on February 3. Carrison then drove the victim to an address in Horry County and escorted the victim inside where she stayed for more than an hour, the warrant states.

Investigators say Carson rubbed the victim above and below the clothing without the consent of the victim, who was unable to stop him due to his level of intoxication.

The warrant states investigators based the charge on the victim's statement as well as surveillance footage obtained by SLED during the investigation.

Sheriff Carter Weaver requested that SLED investigate allegations of criminal sexual conduct involving off-duty personnel, Wunderlich said.

He was booked into the Horry County Detention Center, but a photo was not immediately available on the jail's website.
