State Police Identify Man Fatal in Lyon County

Nevada State Police have identified the man who died from his injuries in an April 24 crash in Lyon County.

Rogers Heinrichs Jr., an 84-year-old Silver Springs man, was transported by Care Flight to an area hospital following the crash, but succumbed to his injuries on May 7, the NSP said in a Press release.

The Highway Patrol responded around 11:02 p.m. April 24 to U.S. 95A, at the intersection of U.S. 50.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2009 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on US 95A approaching the traffic circle that intersects US 50. The Ford Fusion was traveling too fast for the conditions and ahead of the vehicle hit the decorative rocks in the center of the roundabout. ”, according to the press release. “The Ford continued across the opposite travel lane of the roundabout and US 50 west into the north travel lane of US 95A, then turned and came to rest facing south, north- is from the roundabout.”

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, Northern Command West MIRT (Multidisciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team) is investigating the crash.

In 2024, according to preliminary data, the Nevada Highway Patrol's Northern West Command investigated 10 fatal crashes, resulting in 12 deaths.
