State Patrol seeks help solving fatal head-on crash near Nisqually State Park

Kristine Sherred / The News Tribune (TNS)

One person was killed and two others seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when two pickup trucks collided on State Route 7 near Nisqually State Park, police said.

On June 5, around 4 p.m., a dark gray truck traveling north on Route 7 veered toward the center line along a curve on a windy rural road, according to the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle “collided head-on” with a silver truck in the southbound lane.

The passenger in the northbound truck died. Both drivers were seriously injured.

WSP spokesman John Dattilo had no update Saturday morning.

In a news release shared Friday evening, police asked for witnesses to the crash itself as well as anyone who may have seen either truck before the crash, which occurred just south of Ohop Bob and just north of the exit to Eatonville. The road also leads south to the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier National Park and north to Tacoma.
