Starkville man sentenced to prison for drug trafficking

Oxford, MS – A Starkville man was sentenced today to more than seven years in federal prison for drug trafficking.

According to court documents, Lashadus Harris, 33, previously pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. Senior United States District Court Judge Glen H. Davidson sentenced Harris to 87 months in prison following his drug trafficking conviction. Upon his release from prison, Harris will serve three years of supervised release. Harris was taken into the custody of the U.S. Marshals following the sentencing.

“This defendant is a repeat offender who has continued to sell dangerous narcotics in his community,” noted U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner. “Thanks to the hard work of the FBI, the Starkville Police Department and AUSA Robert Mims, he will no longer sell illegal drugs in Starkville.”

“The FBI is committed to keeping our communities safe,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Eikhoff. “When individuals, like Mr. Harris, continually bring illegal narcotics into the community, it becomes a danger to society. It is imperative that the FBI, DOJ, and our partners in Starkville fully pursue these offenders to the fullest extent permitted.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Starkville Police Department.
