PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The body believed to be that of missing Plain Township woman Raychel Sheridan, 24, was found by sanitation workers in Canton early Wednesday, authorities said.

Sheridan's boyfriend, Sean Goe, 26, of Plain Township, was arrested.

Sheridan had been missing since Tuesday afternoon, when Stark County sheriff's deputies responded to a welfare check at her apartment in the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive NW.

They found the apartment empty, the door open and “suspicious areas” were discovered inside.

While awaiting a search warrant, deputies said they noticed a maroon Jeep Liberty, believed to be registered to Sheridan, driving down Guilford Avenue NW.

Sheriff's officers stopped the vehicle, but the driver, identified as Goe, fled on foot, the sheriff's office said. The man was the victim's boyfriend, police said at a news conference Wednesday.

Investigators said after obtaining a search warrant for Sheridan's home, they found evidence that suggested a homicide had occurred in the apartment. On Wednesday morning, Canton sanitation workers found her body on the city's southwest side.

Goe was arrested at a homeless shelter Wednesday morning.

Investigators said Goe had active arrest warrants for burglary, grand theft of a firearm and domestic violence. The domestic violence charge related to Sheridan, authorities said Wednesday.

He is being held in the Stark County Jail awaiting arraignment.
