Stabbing victims hold suspect until Long Beach police arrive

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Two men were stabbed after confronting a suspect who was vandalizing a vehicle, according to Long Beach police.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a report of a burglary Monday around 8:55 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 9th Street. When police arrived, they found two men holding a suspect, all with stab wounds.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took all three men to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and the suspect was safely arrested.

According to detectives, the victims saw the suspect vandalizing a vehicle and confronted him. The victims told police the suspect attacked them with a knife during a physical altercation.

“The victims restrained the suspect until police arrived and took him into custody,” the LBPD said in a statement.

The suspect was identified as Juan Carlos Marquez, 40, of Norwalk, who was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon. Marquez's bail was set at $240,000.
