Stabbing suspect charged in Ke'eaumoku stabbing

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The man accused of stabbing another at a bus stop on June 15 has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of attempted murder and making a terroristic threat.

Kealoha Tapu, 33, is accused of threatening a security guard with a knife after the guard tried to make him leave private property. The man fled, according to court records, and Tapu left the scene.


Court records revealed Tapu approached a man at a Ke'eaumoku Street bus stop an hour and a half later while holding the knife. Tapu and the man fought and Tapu allegedly stabbed the other man in the chest.

The man was seriously injured.

Tapu is being held without bail and faces a mandatory life sentence with the possibility of parole for attempted second-degree murder. He could face up to five years in prison for making a terrorist threat.
