A 38-year-old woman who was stabbed on a beach in an attack in which another woman was killed has been released from hospital.

The two women, from Poole in Dorset, were attacked on Durley Chine beach in Bournemouth at 11.45pm BST on May 24.

Amie Gray, a 34-year-old personal trainer, died at the scene, while the 38-year-old man was seriously injured.

A 20-year-old man from Croydon, London, arrested on Tuesday for murder remains in police custody.

The man, also arrested for attempted murder, was flown from London to Bournemouth and is still being questioned by specialist detectives.

Two locations in Bournemouth were examined and forensically searched, according to Dorset Police.

Officers also searched two separate addresses in Croydon.

Superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, described the case as “rapidly evolving” and “extensive”.

An increased police presence would remain in the area until the weekend, the force added.

At an inquest into Ms Gray's death, held at Bournemouth Coroners Court, the cause of her death was recorded as multiple stab wounds.

Ms Gray's wife Sian said she would miss her “immensely”, adding: “It will be hard to do without her giggling laugh and big smile.”

Sharon Macklin, Ms Gray's mother, described her as “amazing, funny and kind” with an “energetic soul”.

“When Amie walked into a room, she would burst out laughing and her presence could not be ignored,” she said.

“She was beautiful inside and out and there are no words to express how empty our lives would be without him.”

Dorset Futsal Club, a women's indoor football team of which Ms Gray was head coach, said it was “absolutely devastated”.
