Stabbing in Huntington Beach, California, leaves 2 dead, 3 injured

A July 4 celebration in Huntington Beach, California, was disrupted by a violent stabbing attack that left two people dead and several others injured, authorities said.

Police were called to the scene around 11:15 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue in the Orange County community of Huntington Beach. They found “multiple victims with serious injuries.”

Knife attack under investigation

The Huntington Beach Police Department confirmed that two victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene and three other people were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation. Huntington Beach police said Friday morning they had one person in custody.
