Stabbing at poolside graduation party in Medina, Ohio

MEDINA, Ohio (WJW) — A high school graduation party at Falling Oaks Pool and Clubhouse in Medina turned violent Saturday shortly before 8 p.m., when a pedestrian passing by got into an altercation with some of the partygoers, which led to the stabbing of a 36-year-old man, according to police.


“Officers found a stabbing victim who was taken to Medina Hospital by the Medina Life Support Team,” police said, but gave no conditions regarding the stabbing victim.

The victim, who police have not named publicly, was taken to Akron General Hospital.

Police said a knife was found at the scene and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. “Responding officers and detectives immediately began an investigation and identified the suspect in the stabbing as Antonio Watkins,” according to police.

Later Saturday evening, Medina detectives located Watkins and took him into custody at a residence in Lakewood, police reported. Watkins was booked into the Medina County Jail on a charge of felonious assault.

“Additional charges may be pending after the case is presented to the Medina County grand jury,” according to law enforcement.
