A man who died after being stabbed had a “heart of gold”, his family have said.

Lloyd Donkin died in hospital after being seriously injured in Stockton on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old's family said he would “never be forgotten” and they would “never be the same without him”.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday.

He was taken into custody.

In a tribute released by Cleveland Police, Mr Donkin's family said: “Lloyd's life has been stolen, our lives are shattered.

“The family can only keep her beauty, her heart of gold, her cheeky humor and her love, in our hearts from now on.”

Police were called to Wrensfield Road in the town at around 6.40pm BST following reports of a stabbing.

Mr Donkin was seriously injured and died in hospital a short time later.

Officers are expected to remain in the area over the next few days as the investigation continues.
