Springfield man convicted of drug trafficking after 178 pounds of meth found

PORTLAND, Oregon (KOIN) – A Springfield, Oregon, man who was a member of an international drug trafficking organization was sentenced to federal prison after authorities seized more than 100 pounds of drugs and guns of the group, authorities announced Friday.

Authorities said Rodolfo Arroyo-Segoviano, 38, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison, including three years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Arroyo-Segoviano managed a local distribution network for the Mexico-based organization between April and August 2020 and was responsible for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine into the United States.

During the investigation, authorities seized more than 178 pounds of methamphetamine, 12 pounds of heroin and six pounds of fentanyl, as well as 18 rifles, rifle optics and ammunition, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. the District of Oregon.

Investigators additionally confiscated approximately $1.2 million from the organization, including more than $400,000 in cash.

On July 31, 2020, Arroyo-Segoviano was charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and in early April 2024, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

In total, 35 people – including sources in Mexico and local operators in Lane County – have been convicted for their roles in the organization.

“The prosecution of this international drug trafficking organization represents the tireless dedication of our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners who combat the drug trafficking that plagues our communities,” said Natalie Wight, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.
