Spotsylvania woman accused of killing 3 roommates arrested in NYC after police chase reaches 100 mph

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Spotsylvania County woman charged with murder his three roommates was arrested Thursday evening in New York City following a police chase that reportedly reached 100 mph.

Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, was arrested in Steuben County, New York, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service and New York State Police on Thursday, June 6, according to a press release from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff. Desk.


On Thursday, around 5:45 p.m., New York State Police officers noticed a 2009 Honda Civic – which Venable was driving – and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. According to the release, Venable refused to stop and a chase began, which reportedly reached 100 mph.

After the tire deflation devices were deployed, Venable crashed the Civic. According to the release, she was then arrested without incident and taken to a local hospital.

New York State Police said in a news conference Thursday evening that Venable remained in the hospital being treated for minor injuries. No one else was injured as a result of the accident.

Upon her release, she will be held in the Steuben County Jail pending extradition to Virginia.

Venable is accused of the murders of his roommatesidentified as Robert John McGuire, 77, Gregory Scott Powell, 60, and Carol Anne Reese, 65, all of Spotsylvania.

The search for Venable began following a welfare check conducted around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 in the 10500 block of White Street. Spotsylvania deputies found all three victims dead inside, all suffering from upper body trauma.

According to the office, Venable was quickly identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Venable faces three counts of second-degree murder and one count of using a firearm while committing a felony.
