Spanish Fork teen dies after 3 weeks in hospital

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4) — The Spanish Fork teenager who was hit by a car while crossing the road last month has died after three weeks on life support, according to family members.

Reagan and her friend Olivia were crossing an intersection at 2300 East Canyon Road on Saturday, May 18, when they were hit by an oncoming Kia. Both girls were hospitalized at Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition, and Olivia was later released.

“I want to thank everyone in this incredible community for all the love and support you have shown me and my family during this unimaginably devastating time. Unfortunately, my daughter was not able to live from this accident”, Juliet Teasdale wrote in a post on social media.

She said she knew Reagan was taken in by her father, who died when she was a baby.

Reagan donated most of his organs to help save the lives of others, which Juliet Teasdale said is “the only thing that gives [her] comfort at this time. Her husband, David Teasdale, added that they had 90 minutes after taking her off life support to donate her organs, and she died in the 88th minute.

“Knowing that other children who are suffering will be able to live, see, walk is the only joy in all of this,” David Teasdale wrote in the GoFundMe.

Since the accident, residents of Spanish Fork have rallied together and voiced their concerns at the intersection where the girls were hit. Spanish Fork Mayor Mike Mendenhall said the city has been working with UDOT to install a traffic signal since fall 2022 and anticipates it will be completed within the next few months.

“I don’t think I will ever pass through this intersection that took my daughters’ lives,” Juliet Teasdale wrote. “But the love shown to me by this community, our friends, our neighbors and the members of the parish will never be forgotten! Thank you and God bless you all!
