(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man killed in a shooting Friday night, May 17, has been identified as Peter Espino, 30, by the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on May 17 around 11:40 p.m., officers were called to a shooting near the 100 block of South Union Boulevard, south of Pikes Peak Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Espino suffering from at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, police said a suspect is not in custody and detectives are continuing their investigation.

Police said this was the 18th homicide in Colorado Springs this year, the same time last year there were 11 homicides.
