South Pasadena neighborhood on edge after woman found stabbed to death in her home

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) — A South Pasadena neighborhood is on alert after a woman in her 60s was found stabbed to death inside her home.

Investigators are now trying to determine who killed her and why. Meanwhile, residents are reeling from the brutal murder on their street.

The woman was found at her home on Brent Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after authorities said the woman's family called police for a well-being check.

“She doesn't move much. She waters the flowers, that's all I can see,” a neighbor named James told Eyewitness News.

James said she seemed to move slowly and he often saw her tending to her small garden. He says there is an ADU being built out back and there are a lot of people arriving and heavy trucks passing by.

The victim's name has not been released.

On Wednesday, investigators canvassed the neighborhood and went door to door. They requested surveillance video that could have captured someone entering or leaving the house.

Crime lab technicians were also present to collect evidence from inside the home.

Police towed a vehicle parked on the street later that afternoon, but would not release any information about it.

Neighbors are worried about the situation.

“It's scary. It's a really quiet neighborhood, so it's a shame,” another neighbor said. “I hope his family is well.”

No suspect information is available.
