South Dallas homicide victim identified as 17-year-old

The victim of a homicide in South Dallas earlier this week has been identified as a 17-year-old.

Zayvyon Damund Jones was identified by Dallas County medical examiner records as the victim of Monday's fatal shooting in the 2600 block of Macon Street, near Bexar Street. Police say Jones was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound just before 1 a.m.

Jones was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

A Dallas police spokesperson did not immediately respond to an email asking whether any suspects had been identified or arrests made in the case. A search of the Dallas County Jail's online log for the case number yielded no results.
