South Carolina woman charged with double murder in death of pregnant teen | Columbia News

BARNWELL — After a months-long investigation, a 62-year-old woman has been arrested on double murder charges for allegedly killing a nine-months pregnant teenager.

Maylashia Hogg, 17, was last seen on February 8. She was due to give birth to her daughter, Londoyn Charity, named after her late mother. She missed her due date. On February 18, her body was found in a ditch near a park in Barnwell, near Perry and Main streets.

An autopsy showed Hogg and her full-term fetus died from stab wounds, according to arrest warrants issued following an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division.

SLED agents searched the home of Jacqueline Reid, 62, near where the teen was last seen and where her body was found. Inside, they found “forensic evidence,” according to the arrest warrants.

Reid was arrested on July 1. According to SLED, a diverse team of state agents and scientists “worked tirelessly” on the case with the assistance of local law enforcement.

“No matter where you live, no matter where you come from, everyone in this state deserves an equal level of service from law enforcement,” said SLED Chief Mark Keel. “Every case matters and every victim deserves justice.”

SLED agents are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call the SLED hotline at 803-896-0281 or email SLED at [email protected].
