South Carolina man sentenced to prison for murder of Dayton man

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A South Carolina man has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for the murder of a Dayton man.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced the sentencing of Demar Cobb, 37, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after he was found guilty of murdering a Dayton man.

On July 22, 2023, officers responded to the 2900 block of Lakeridge Court after a shooting was reported. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.

The driver was identified as Graylon Russell, 42, of Dayton. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigation into the incident revealed that Russell had arrived at the Lakeridge Court apartment complex to repossess a vehicle. Cobb came out of a nearby apartment and confronted Russell, pulling out a handgun. Police say he shot Russell multiple times before fleeing on foot.

Cobb was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and one count of possessing weapons while under disability. He has since been found guilty on all counts.

On May 24, Cobb was sentenced to 24 years to life in prison.
