Soud and Asmaa Kanan, of Sharon, Pennsylvania, arrested in connection with $1.6K Ensure drink coupon scam

ALLIANCE, Ohio (WKBN) – A Mercer County man and woman were arrested Wednesday evening after an investigation into an Ensure nutritional drink coupon scam, where police say they were accused of fraudulently stealing $1,600 .

The Alliance City Police Department announced on Facebook that Soud Kanan, 27, and Asmaa Kanan, 25, were arrested at a Marc's store in the 2400 block of West State Street in Alliance shortly before 7:30 p.m. . Police said Soud and Asmaa Kanan were both arrested. I live in Sharon.

Police said the two men were under investigation for a coupon scam in which they fraudulently stole more than $1,600 worth of Ensure products from Marc's and Meijer stores on June 11.

Officers said the man and woman also had hundreds of packages of Ensure in the back of a Penske truck. Police said it appears the products were obtained illegally at the Boardman and Salem Marc stores.

The Alliance City Police Department said the investigation is ongoing. Police said Soud and Asmaa Kanan were both accused of engaging in continued conduct to commit theft by deception, a criminal charge.
