Soldiers kill five bandits and recover weapons in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Whirl Punch have killed five bandits in the Dantarau general area of ​​Kajuru Local Government Area of ​​Kaduna State.

The troops were on a combat patrol in the general area of ​​Kachia-Kjuru when they encountered bloodthirsty bandits.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He also said that many bandits who engaged the troops in a gun duel were mortally wounded, while warning residents against providing medical assistance to questionable individuals without resorting to law enforcement agencies. nearest security.

He said two AK-47 rifles, one locally manufactured submachine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62 mm, two motorcycles and two portable radios were recovered by the troops.

The commissioner also disclosed that the air component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully struck bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of ​​Igabi Local Government Area of ​​the state.

He said: “According to the report, the troops embarked on operations to clear the Maro-Enugu axis spanning Kachia and Kajuru LGAs.

“In the Dantarau community, troops made contact with bandits and after a violent exchange, five of the criminals were neutralized.

“The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles, one locally manufactured submachine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles and two portable radio sets.

“Similarly, the air component of Operation Whirl Punch managed to strike bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of ​​Igabi LGA.

“Credible human intelligence sources confirmed the success of the operation, which resulted in the elimination of several bandits during the mission. Some of the bandits were injured and are said to be hiding in the general area, needing medical assistance.

“Residents in the area are requested to stop providing medical assistance to questionable individuals without resorting to the nearest security agencies. »

Meanwhile, the commissioner quoted the state governor, Uba Sani, as reportedly commending the bravery of the troops under the command of the General Officer Commanding 1st Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. MLD Saraso, upon receipt of reports.

He said the governor further extended his commendations to the “Air Officer Command, Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshall, NN Ananaba and his team for their outstanding contribution to the security of the state.

“The governor urged the military to maintain the momentum of operations. »
