SoFlo teen sensation Tyler Watts discusses the evolution of his perfectionist, sonic work ethic – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Deco has followed Tyler Watts' musical career since he was 14. At only 17 years old, he is now a music veteran! As friends we met Tyler at Black Shadow Studios in Miami.

Tyler Watts (vocals): “I can't get you out of my head, out of my brain, chasing this love that I know is dead.”

17-year-old Tyler Watts may be young, but he's no stranger to hard work.

Tyler Watts: “I was in the studio working on my music, playing shows, you know, working hard.”

Like any teenage artist, he is constantly evolving.

Tyler Watts: “I feel like my sound is definitely developing, especially with these last few singles that I've put out.”

Tyler Watts (vocals): “See, I wanna know if being alone hurts you like it hurts me too.”

The magic happens in the studio. The instrumental track is ready, the record button is pressed, and Tyler gets to work.

Tyler Watts: “Once we’re in the studio, there’s a whole creative process that happens around how we want to lay the track out, and, you know, just vibe with the song for a minute and then go in and kill it, like I always do.”

What you hear from Tyler is exactly the music he wants you to hear. The young man is a self-confessed perfectionist, which sometimes drives him a little crazy.

Tyler Watts: “It drives me crazy, because the way my mind works, I want everything to be perfect, so if there's one little thing that doesn't seem right, I'll go in there and do it again. »

Tyler's career took a major boost last year when he got the chance to sing for R&B singer Jacquees.

Tyler Watts: “He asked me to sing for him, right then and there. He basically said, “That was really good. How old are you?” I told him I was 16 years old. He said, “Dude, what?” He said, “It’s crazy, you have an incredible voice.” »

Tyler currently records for Jacquees' label, FYB Records. He sent us a little message about his protégé.

Jacquees: “Big shoutout to young Tyler Watts. Man, the new 17-year-old R&B sensation, you know what I mean? He’s from Miami. I’m so proud of Tyler.”

We are also proud of Tyler and know that no matter how big he gets, he will never forget his roots.

Tyler Watts: “I feel like I definitely represent Miami, because, you know, the way I dress, the way I talk, it definitely says Miami. Just looking at myself, I feel like you could tell I'm from Miami.
