CATALINA, how thick is the smoke where you are? OH YEAH. So you can see right behind me. It's still pretty thick, but crews are working right now to clear out all of this smoke. TY. THEY SAY THIS GRASS FIRE STARTED AROUND 4:42 PM, THIS IS ON THE ON RAMP TO WESTBOUND I-80 NEAR WATT AVENUE. They say they're still investigating what led to this fire, but right now they're working to push back all those little spots that are still smoldering. AND THEY SAY THAT THE AMOUNT OF FIRE SMOKE THAT WE HAVE SEEN IS DUE TO ALL THIS BARK THAT'S IN THIS AREA. They say it makes it very difficult to put out all those stains and get rid of that smoke. THAT'S WHY, RIGHT NOW, THE CREWS ARE HERE TO MAKE SURE WE EXPAND ALL OF THIS AND GET RID OF ALL THIS SMOKE THAT'S STILL, uh, heading towards where people are driving right now on the road. 'Interstate I-80, YOU CAN We saw it when we were coming down, we could see it when we were about five minutes away. So there was definitely a lot of smoke that this little half acre grass fire created here. AND THEY SAY ONE OF THE CHALLENGES WAS OBVIOUSLY THE WIND AND THE HOT TEMPERATURES, BUT THEY ARE WORKING. It's completely out and they're working to get rid of that smoke. They say the westbound on-ramp on I-80 here on Watt Avenue will be closed at least for another hour. While these teams finish all their efforts here. And as I mentioned, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. And like Britney said, we saw these grass and house fires throughout the day.
