SML electrocution accidental, sheriff says

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said one person was killed and two others suffered minor injuries during an outing at Smith Mountain Lake on July 4.

Details remain limited; however, Capt. Stephen Anders of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office told WFXR that three people in a private home with a dock were gathering with family and friends when the incident occurred.

Witnesses at the scene told police they saw the victim in distress. The two minors then entered the water to try to save her and immediately began to feel an electric shock.
