Small wildfire north of Hallelujah Junction stopped at 22 acres

HALLELUJAH JUNCTION, CA (KOLO) –9:30 p.m. UPDATE: Progress has been stopped on the Peterson Fire off US 395. The fire is approximately 22 acres.

It is on the east side of US 395, approximately 2.5 miles south of Red Rock Road's northern intersection with US 395. Original coordinates place it on the west side of US 395 .

The first call about the fire came in at 5:47 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to be human caused.

Crews will work on hot spots overnight. Between 59 and 70 firefighters intervened.

A stream and a road helped stop the spread of the fire.

8:12 p.m. UPDATE: Crews are cleaning up hot spots during a fire along US 395, north of Hallelujah Junction.

Traffic on US 395 remains in one lane in alternating directions.

ORIGINAL STORY: There is a wildfire just west of US 395, north of Hallelujah Junction, almost to the north intersection of Red Rock Road.

The California Department of Transportation reports that traffic is being controlled and sent in alternating directions.

This was reported around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Multiple crews are responding to the Minden Peterson fire.

The extent of the fire and its causes were not immediately known.
