ORINDA — A small earthquake struck Orinda Saturday, a seismic event near two East Bay reservoirs, officials reported.

The earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 2.6, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake occurred around 11:37 a.m. Saturday, the Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported the earthquake was located about 2.6 miles northwest of Orinda. The depth of the earthquake was approximately 5.3 miles.

The closest street is Monte Vista Ridge Road. The nearest major intersection is the State Route 84 and Camino Pablo Road interchange.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported. At least 50 people told the U.S. Geological Survey they felt the earthquake.

The San Pablo and Briones reservoirs are located a few kilometers from the epicenter, according to information published by the USGS.
