SLED now accuses former Georgetown County Sheriff's Office investigator of assault

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WBTW) — A former Georgetown County Sheriff's Office investigator faces an assault charge in connection with a February incident, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division .

Everest Henry Carrison II, 40, of Longs, was charged Tuesday with first-degree battery, according to an arrest warrant. On February 5, Sheriff Carter Weaver asked SLED to investigate allegations of criminal sexual conduct involving off-duty personnel.

Carrison and the victim were at a Horry County hotel on Feb. 3, drinking alcoholic beverages after the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Polar Plunge event, according to an arrest warrant. After that, Carrison took the person away because they were intoxicated and he stayed inside with them for over an hour.

While inside, Carrison “with lewd and lascivious intent injured the victim” by rubbing an area above and below her clothing without her consent “or the opportunity to stop the assault due to the victim’s level of intoxication,” the warrant states. The victim's statement and surveillance footage obtained by SLED corroborate the allegations.

News13 reached out to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office for a statement. We also contacted the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy to obtain Carrison's training records.
