Skeletal remains found near Apopka 30 years ago identified; MPs seek information

ORANGE COUNTY, Florida. – The skeletal remains of a homicide victim discovered near Apopka in 1993 were recently identified and helped the Orange County Sheriff's Office move one step closer to solving the 30-year-old case , according to detectives.

When the remains were discovered on Binion Road near Apopka in October 1993, an investigation determined the person's cause of death was homicide, according to the sheriff's office. However, for more than 30 years, the sheriff's office has been unable to determine the identity of the victim.

That all changed when the sheriff's office partnered with Othrams Labs and identified the remains as those of 48-year-old Richard Wick.

Authorities are now asking for any information that could help bring closure to this unsolved case and “provide justice for Richard and closure for his family,” the sheriff's office posted on Facebook.
