A half-dozen suspects — all but two teenagers — were jailed in connection with an alleged gang-related fight in Escondido in which two men were stabbed, one fatally, authorities reported Tuesday.

The suspects were allegedly involved in the April 27 fight in the 1000 block of North Ivy Street that fatally injured Manuel Ramirez, 37, of Escondido, according to police. A second man was also stabbed during the nighttime brawl, but survived.

Four boys were arrested in recent days on suspicion of murder in the case, including two 16-year-olds, one 15-year-old and the other 17-year-old, Escondido police Lt. Ryan Hicks said. The teens, whose names were not released because they are minors, were booked into a San Diego juvenile hall. Ricardo Fernandez, 19, and Jose Francisco Martinez, 22, were booked into the county's adult cell.

The six suspects, all Escondido residents, were booked on charges of first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang.

“Detectives do not believe there are any other suspects in this case at this point,” the lieutenant said Tuesday afternoon.
