Six Flagler County residents sentenced to federal prison for multi-state drug trafficking conspiracy | Local News Observer

Six Flagler County residents were among nine people charged and convicted in a multistate drug trafficking operation.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced that all nine people charged in “Operation Ice Man” have been sentenced to prison. Each defendant was convicted by a jury or pleaded guilty for his or her role in a multistate drug trafficking conspiracy that stretched from Mexico to California, Arizona, central Florida and County Flagler, according to a news release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Six of the nine individuals reside in Flagler County and were arrested on various drug possession charges: Zara Mascarella, 20, of Palm Coast; Camarie Shavers, 23, of Bunnell; Alfred L. Shavers, Jr., 26, of Bunnell; Jimmie Lee Bizzell, 53, of Bunnell; Tyrone Jones, 56, of Palm Coast.

In May 2023, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly and United States Attorney Roger B. Hanberg announced the results of the investigation at a joint press conference.

The two-year local, state and federal investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Daytona Beach Resident Agency, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the Daytona Beach Police Department and the DeLand Police Department, the press release states.
