SIPRI offers intensive online course on chemical and biological weapons

From May 28 to 31, SIPRI and the European Union Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC) delivered an intensive online introductory course on chemical and biological weapons for graduate students. graduates and postgraduates. Participants were briefed on the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons, efforts to eliminate them and the various mechanisms used to control their spread, as well as efforts to reduce the risk of chemical or biological agents in terrorist attacks .

The four-day course covered topics such as the fundamentals of chemical and biological weapons and the current challenges they pose. The students also discussed the role of European institutions in meeting these challenges.

The course brought together 19 students from 16 countries and was taught by renowned experts in non-proliferation, arms control, disarmament, export control, verification and related topics from SIPRI, other centers European research institutes, think tanks and international organizations.
