Sioux City man surrenders after stabbing Wednesday morning

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Ezra Dean Robbins, 29, of Sioux City, was arrested after police say he got into an altercation involving a penknife and another man.

On Wednesday, June 12, around 4:50 a.m., officers received a report that an intoxicated man had caused a disturbance near Bennett's Motel, located on Military Road in Sioux City, Iowa, according to court documents.

Authorities say when officers arrived they found a person lying in the roadway covered in blood. Police say the individual was then transported to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

The Sioux City Police Department said that around 5:25 a.m., Robbins arrived on scene and told officers he was involved in the incident.

Court documents say the victim allegedly screamed and screamed in Bennett's parking lot around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. Documents say a vehicle alarm sounded and woke Robbins who came out of his motel room.

Officials say Robbins and the man exchanged words, leading Robbins to return to his room and lock the door. Authorities say the victim knocked on Robbin's door and Robbins allegedly armed himself with a pocketknife and confronted him.

Documents indicate Robbins and the man got into a physical altercation approximately 15 to 20 yards from Robbin's motel room.

After the fight, Robbins allegedly stabbed the man on the left side of his back. Robbins was taken into custody and booked into the Woodbury County Jail with bail set at $10,000. He was charged with wounding with intent – ​​causing serious injury.
