Silver Alert continues for missing North Texas woman. – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Dallas police and loved ones are asking for the public's help in locating an 88-year-old woman who went missing early last week.

Myrtle Polk was last seen driving a black 2004 Lexus ES 330 with Texas license plate BV7-K204 in the 1100 block of Indian Creek Trail on Monday, June 10.

Polk, a retired teacher and very active member of her church, is described as a pillar of her south Oak Cliff community.

“I think most people would just describe her as the mother you never had,” said Philip Polk, Myrtle Polk's son. “I like to say she has about 40 adopted daughters who are part of her church family.”

Polk's son said she was last seen Saturday and knew something was wrong when she didn't show up at Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church on Sunday.

“It’s really unusual for my mom to drive anywhere at night,” Polk said. “So that was an indication that we thought maybe something was wrong.”

Philip Polk said he doesn't let his mind wander into what-ifs. His mother has early-onset dementia and he thinks it might affect her.

“What we believe is that when she drove away from home, she probably had clear intentions about where she wanted to go and along the way she became confused and disoriented, which probably prevented us from locating her,” Polk said. said.

Her family and friends searched the places she frequented, like Wal-Mart parking lots, where she likes to sit and people-watch.

The family also shares her photos daily on social media hoping that someone will recognize her.

Polk is described as having white hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds.

“There are days when it gets tough,” Polk said. “There are days when getting up is difficult. But the people who call and say, “Hey, have you heard anything, let me know what I can do,” that's the fuel we need to keep going.

Polk said encouragement is needed because he needs to reunite with his mother.

“She’s the most important person in my life and we have to find her and we won’t stop until we do.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dallas Police Department at 911 or 214-671-4268.
