Shooting outside Streeterville Whole Foods draws large police presence in Chicago – NBC Chicago

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, police said. He was transported to a nearby hospital and was last found to be in good condition.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, police added.

Photos and video from the scene showed several police cars and yellow tape blocking the busy intersection near the Whole Foods store in Streeterville, at 255 E. Grand Avenue.

An ambulance was also visible near the building.

Parents of students at a school in the same building said a school trip was postponed due to the police presence, with students at the school asked to close their blinds and stay away. the interior.

In an interview with NBC Chicago, a worker said he saw a man harassing people and heard gunshots. The worker said the man then ran into the Whole Foods parking lot.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified told NBC Chicago that she also heard gunshots and saw a man holding her shoulder.

Police said no one was in custody and an investigation is still ongoing.
