Shooting on airport highway leaves one injured

The shooting occurred following a physical fight, police said in a statement.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in south Toledo Saturday morning.

According to a police report, officers responded to a parking lot at 4230 Airport Highway around 9:45 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a person shot.

Police said following a physical fight, a shooting occurred and one person was injured. Toledo Fire and Rescue transported the victim to the hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said in the report.

Investigators arrived on scene and collected evidence.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, authorities said in the report. Police searched another location in the 4500 block of Copper Creek with an investigating sergeant and a property owner, but officers were unable to locate the suspect.
